Welcome to baby Phillips!

He has finally arrived!  Weighing 7lb and 15oz, Baby Boy Phillips arrived yesterday, Sunday 21st July at 7.16am.  Mum and baby doing well, but no name as yet.  Congratulations Mrs Phillips and the Phillips family.

Reflections of my Time

At the end of the school year, we ask Year 6 to reflect on their time at St. Helen's.  This reflection from one of our year 6 boys has caused a tide of pride across the school. We do not always notice the effects we have on others, but this has affected us. Thank you C.
'In nursery, I did not speak.  I did not have many friends and I chose to stay quiet. The only thing I did was hum ‘Ten in the Bed.’  Yet, this term, I took a lead role as Pumbaa in ‘The Lion King’. This journey has been possible because of all my teachers who believed in me, like Mr Wale, who encouraged me to try drama in year 2, Miss Wyard who was an excellent storyteller and Mrs Merchant who helped me with my SHARE Tedtalk and allowed me to choose to work with a partner to boost my confidence.  At ‘The Lion King’ auditions, I had lots of support from my friends. So, because of the St Helen’s family, my courage is huge. There’s no stopping Pumbaa now!'

Loving our Loopy Lap!

Just wanted to say well done to all our pupils staff and parents who ran, piggy-backed, chicken walked or serenaded us on today's Loopy Lap to raise money for Cancer charities.  The just giving total is £940 so far - let's see if together we can raise £2K and make a real difference. Well done Year 6. You have done us proud!

The SAT results are in and although these test are not the most important event this term, the children and staff working on them have made us proud once more.  All pupils will be coming home with their sealed envelopes this evening, but the overall picture looks like this.  So proud of you all. Everyone has progressed and you should all be proud.  We learn at different speeds and all have different strengths, some that can't be measured.

Will your creature be friendly or fierce?

This has possibly been the most challenging Design Technology project that year sixes have ever taken on - but they have done it!  Children were asked to create a sculpture to leave behind when they leave, which would either welcome visitors to the Rainforest Phase or deter them!
